Introduction

The jobs feature is a core component of our software, providing project managers with a powerful tool for assigning work and tracking progress. With jobs, managers can create new projects, assign tasks to employees, and monitor the progress of each job. Additionally, you can also add deliverables to jobs and then invoice those deliverables.

By using the jobs feature, project managers can ensure that employees know what work needs to be done, when it’s due, and what the expected outcome is. This makes it easy for employees to understand what’s expected of them and to stay on track with their work. In short, jobs are the core way that employees know what to do in their day-to-day work.

Whether you’re managing a small team or a large project, our jobs feature makes it easy to keep everyone on the same page and ensure that work is completed on time and to the required standard.

Non-Standard Job Types

There are three different groups of job types:

  • Standard
  • Organisation
  • Custom
Standard Job Types

The standard jobs are ones that are defined by theBOSSapp. These jobs have unique workflows associated to each of them. Your organisation sets up which standard jobs they would like.

The two most common standard job types are Tenders and CPIRs.

Organisation Job Types

Organisation job types are simple job types defined by the organisation. They can be added through the ‘Job Types’ page.

These jobs don’t require any extra information added to them and will only have the most basic information associated to them.

Custom Job Types

Custom job types are also defined by the organisation but are used when more specific information is required to finish the job. You can read more about adding custom jobs and how to use them here.

Jobs that Don’t Require Invoices

When marking a project as closed, the system will check that all jobs for that project have been invoiced. This ensures that there are no jobs get forgotten when closing a project.

Occasionally, you will need to make jobs for people that do not require to be invoiced. If this is the case, you can send a request to the branch manager of the job to mark it as not needing an invoice.

If the branch manager approves this request, the project is able to be closed without it being invoiced.

If you have accidently created a job under the incorrect project, you can move if by clicking the ‘Move Project’ button.

This will prompt you to select a new project to move the job to.
