The Opportunity Register helps you stay organised and track potential business opportunities. It’s where you can organise all the important information like fees, tender dates, and how likely you are to win the work so nothing falls through the cracks.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through setting up an opportunity step by step. You’ll learn how to assign roles, add key dates, and link it to the right clients and projects. Whether you’re working across multiple organisations or just within one, the Opportunity Register makes it easy to stay on top of things and keep everyone on the same page.

How To Create An Opportunity In theBOSSapp

  1. Click “Registers”
  • Click “Opportunities”
  • Click the plus ‘+’ icon to create a new opportunity.
  • Enter a concise, descriptive title for the opportunity.
  • Select the project that you would like to add the opportunity to.

    If there isn’t a specific project, your organisation should have an Opportunities project.
  • If you are creating this Opportunity at a group level, you will have the option to select which organisation the opportunity is created in.
  • Select a client to associate the opportunity with.

    As per the previous step, if you are doing this at a group level, the client list will populate based on the organisation selection.
  • Select the opportunity manager who is the person responsible for managing the opportunity.
  • Enter the anticipated fee for completing the project work.
  • Enter the Tender Start Date for when the tendering process begins and the Tender Finish Date for the deadline for tender submissions.
  • Select an industry sector relevant to the project.

Choose the current stage of the opportunity.

  1. Identified: The opportunity has been discovered but no actions have been taken yet.
  2. Positioning: Efforts are underway to improve the chances of success, like engaging with stakeholders or aligning with client needs.
  • Next Action: The next planned step or task for progressing the opportunity.
  1. Services: The specific services to be provided (e.g. Geotechnical Engineering, CMT).

  • Non-Standard Opportunity Type: Unique or atypical aspects of the opportunity.
  • Expected Award Date: Choose the date the contract or project award is anticipated.
  • Likelihood of Success: The estimated probability of winning the opportunity (%).
  • Probability of Work Commencing: The likelihood that the work will start (%).
  • Estimated Work Dates: The expected start and completion dates for the work.
  • Bid Team Involved: Enable if there are team members contributing to the tender or bid process.
  • Bid Coordinator: The person responsible for managing and organising the bid process within the team.
  • Notes: Any additional comments, considerations, or context about the opportunity.
  • Click “Save”
  • Now that your Opportunity has been saved, you can attach documents to it.
    Click the “Documents” tab.
  • Click this image to select a file to upload.
  • To view your saved Opportunity, click “Registers”
  • Click “Opportunities”
  • Ensure your desired filters are selected.
  • Now when you navigate to the Opportunities Register, you’ll see the opportunity you created, complete with all the details you entered, ready for tracking and updates.
