2 Factor Authentication for Users

In you don’t already have your own authenticator app, we recommend using Microsoft Authenticator. Please see the steps below to get setup.

Download and Install the Microsoft Authenticator App

Install the latest version of the Authenticator app, based on your mobile phone operating system:

Google Android: On your Android device, go to Google Play to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Apple iOS: On your Apple iOS device, go to the App Store to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app.

How to Enable 2 Factor Authentication for Your Account

To enable 2FA on your account, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of theBOSSapp.
  2. Click “Profile”
  3. Click “2 Factor Authentication”
  4. Click the ‘Next’ button to initiate the 2FA setup process.
  5. In your authenticator app on your phone, tap the add new account button. This should bring up your phones camera which you can point at the QR code on your computer screen.
  6. Now grab the current code on your authenticator app and add it to the “Code” field in theBOSSapp.
  7. If you’re unable to point your phone camera at the QR code, you can enter the 16 character code directly into your authenticator app.
  8. Click “Save”

Trust Device

When you enable the “Trust Device” option during login, your device will be recognized as a trusted device, and you won’t need to enter a 2FA code for 30 days. However, if you log in from a new or different device, you will still be prompted to provide a 2FA code for added security.

2 Factor Back Up Codes

Backup codes are a set of unique, one-time-use codes that can be used to access your account if you cannot access your authenticator app or your device is lost or stolen. It is important to store your backup codes in a safe and secure location, separate from your device, to ensure you can access your account in case of emergencies.

To view your back up codes:

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of theBOSSapp.
  2. Click “Profile”
  3. Click “Multi Factor Authentication”
  4. Click “Show Recovery Codes”
  5. Enter your login password for theBOSSapp.
  6. Click “Save”
  7. You will now see a list of your one-time use back up codes. Please keep these safe.

To reset your back up codes:

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of theBOSSapp.
  2. Click “Profile”
  3. Click “Multi Factor Authentication”
  4. Click “Show Recovery Codes”
  5. Enter your login password for theBOSSapp.
  6. Click “Reset Recovery Codes”
